Pull out your sidewalk chalk and let's celebrate our community!
Parents, grandparents, tiny kids, big kids, neighbors, pets, and more are gathering to decorate the Shunga Trail on April 30 from 10am-noon. The event is free, and individuals of all ages and groups of all sizes are invited to participate in Chalk the Walk - a celebration of the Shunga Trail. Space is limited, so register soon!
The Trail benefits our community in many ways, from connecting different neighborhoods and functioning as a bicycling and walking thoroughfare, to providing a safe and scenic route for recreational use. How do you use the Shunga Trail?
Check-in starts at 9 A.M., and each individual or organization participating will be assigned one 4' x 8' section of sidewalk to decorate throughout the morning. Sidewalk chalk will be available, but feel free to bring your own!
Early birds will be able to stroll vendor booths with information about our community.
The trail is 13 beautiful miles, but we'll be gathering at an information booth outside the Crestview Community Center at 4801 SW Shunga Drive, Topeka, KS 66614.
Remember, this event is family-friendly and any art deemed inappropriate for little eyes will be smudged by a bully.
Don't worry - we won't be grading anyone's art work. Everyone gets an A+. However, we will have some cool prizes to give out in various categories to be announced soon. If you can't wait - register now!
Sponsored by Leadership Greater Topeka Class of 2011.
All donations will benefit the Topeka Parks and Recreation Foundation.
Keep up with all the latest news about Chalk the Walk on the Facebook Page.
Please be creative in your designs - but keep in mind that no paint or liquid chalk will be allowed.
